The Houston Rockets twitter account dropped a controversial tweet as the game against the Dallas Mavericks was ending last night.

The Houston Rockets eliminated the Dallas Mavericks from the playoffs last night with a 103-94 victory. The Rockets won the series 4-1 and will be moving on to the next round of the playoffs.

In the closing minutes of the game last night, the Houston Rockets official twitter account sent out a controversial tweet that they later deleted:

rockets twitter
rockets twitter /

The Dallas Mavericks twitter account quickly responded:

With the emotions high, fans lost their minds because of that tweet. It somehow promotes horse murdering. Maybe it is just promoting murdering. Whatever it is, people don’t want to see emojis of a horse and a pistol pointed at it with the comment that was attached to it. We can sit through a world of The Walking Dead  where little kids are “looking at the flowers,” but a little joke of putting down the Mavericks to rest has caused a storm.

We do understand that any talk of murder should be taken seriously and it probably was in poor taste.

The Rockets later apologized for their tweet that they sent out:

This is not the first time that we have seen twitter get some people in sports in trouble and it will not be the last. Let’s look back at some of the other times that twitter failed the sports world.

Remember when Chipper had his idea on how to control illegal immigrants in the US?

"“Ya’ll think if they took all them gators they trap in Fla ans La and put them in the Rio Grande, it wud stop the illegals from crossing? Jk”"

That probably wasn’t the best idea!

What about that embarrassing tweet from Troy Aikman when he was hitting on Mari Morrow when he thought he was dropping in on her DMs.

"“I’m in Dallas but will be coming to LA soon…was thinking of you and wanted to say hi :)”"

Someone teach Troy how to use twitter and also let him know how to spell Mari Morrow’s name before he tries to hit on her.

This will be the last tweet from Jason Whitlock. This was in the middle of Linsanity in New York and Jason Whitlock dropped this tweet for all the peeps:

"“Some lucky lady in NYC is gonna feel a couple inches of pain tonight.”"

Goodness gracious. Did he start talking about penis sizes? Amazing. The Rockets may have made a mistake on their twitter account, but we have seen it happen over and over again. We can’t wait till the next time.
