Mike Mayock Bengals Mock Draft: Cincinnati selects
With the 21st pick in Mike Mayock’s NFL mock draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Malcom Brown, defensive tackle, from Texas. Mayock has Brown rated as the fourth-best player at his position.
2014 Recap
Cincinnati made the postseason for the fourth consecutive season, going 9-6-1 to finish second in the AFC North. However, the Bengals also lost in the Wild Card round for the fourth straight year, falling 26-10 to the Indianapolis Colts. Andy Dalton was heavily scrutinized throughout the season after signing a six-year deal, and whispers grew into groans when he struggled in the playoffs again.
Team needs
The Bengals have a solid roster, but could certainly use help at offensive tackle and cornerback. Age is catching up in both spots, but luckily for the Bengals this draft has depth at both positions. Cincinnati finally saw Terence Newman walk in free agency, leaving them with Leon Hall, Dre Kirkpatrick and Adam Jones at corner.
Last year’s pick
Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh. Donald was gone long before the Bengals got on the clock with the 24th pick, where they took Michigan State corner Darqueze Dennard. Donald went 13th-overall to the St. Louis Rams.
Scheduled pick
On Thursday night, the Bengals hold the 21st-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
