Mike Mayock Browns Mock Draft: Cleveland selects
With the 19th pick in Mike Mayock’s NFL mock draft, the Cleveland Browns select Melvin Gordon, running back, from Wisconsin. Mayock has Gordon rated as the best player at his position.

Cleveland was a playoff contender early, leading the AFC North with a 6-3 mark through 10 weeks. However, the team fell apart in December and finished 7-9, last in the division. Cleveland changed quarterbacks in Week 15, replacing Brian Hoyer with Johnny Manziel.
Team needs
Cleveland needs offensive help. Although Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline were signed during free agency, a receiver would provide a boost to this lackluster offense. The Browns are also without a solid running back and tight end. Defensively, Cleveland could needs corner help to replace Buster Skrine and an outside linebacker.
Last year’s pick
Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M. Cleveland ended up trading back with the Buffalo Bills, netting a 2015 first-round pick while Buffalo took Sammy Watkins. The Browns picked eighth and took Justin Gilbert, a corner from Oklahoma State. Matthews went sixth-overall to the Atlanta Falcons.
With their second first-round pick at No. 26, Mayock mocked Teddy Bridgewater to Cleveland. He was right about the position, with the Browns trading up four spots to take Johnny Manziel. Bridgewater went with the last first-round selection to the Minnesota Vikings.
