Mike Mayock Broncos Mock Draft: Denver selects
With the 28th pick in Mike Mayock’s NFL mock draft, the Denver Broncos select Jake Fisher, offensive tackle, from Oregon. Mayock has Fisher rated outside the top five at his position.
2014 Recap
The Broncos won the AFC West for the fourth consecutive season, but fell apart in a tough AFC Divisional playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Denver went 12-4 but was not the same team in the second half of the season. Peyton Manning took time, but decided to return for 2015.
Team needs
Denver lost a litany of players in free agency, most notably Julius Thomas, Terrance Knighton and Orlando Franklin. With that in mind, the Broncos need to upgrade both the offensive and defensive lines, along with adding a young quarterback to potentially groom behind Manning and alongside Brock Osweiler.
Last year’s pick
Jason Verrett, CB, TCU. Verrett had already gone to the San Diego Chargers, so the Broncos stayed with a corner and took Bradley Roby of Ohio State with the 31st-overall selection.
Scheduled pick
On Thursday night, the Broncos hold the 28th-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
