With the 16th pick in Mike Mayock’s NFL mock draft, the Houston Texans select Breshad Perriman, receiver, from Central Florida. Mayock has Perriman rated as the fourth-best player at his position.

2014 Recap

Houston rebounded from a 2-14 season in 2013 to a 9-7 mark under first-year head coach Bill O’Brien. Despite having Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett and Case Keenum under center, Houston was able to finish in second place in the AFC South and miss the playoffs by a tiebreaker.

Team needs

The Texans need a quarterback, but also have holes at receiver and tight end on the offensive side. With the release of high-priced receiver Andre Johnson, the Texans have DeAndre Hopkins on the outside and not much else. Defensively, the safety position is a concern.

Last year’s pick

Jadeveon Clowney, DE/OLB, South Carolina. Mayock hit on this pick, but Houston might regret it. Clowney only played in four games during an injury-riddled campaign.

Scheduled pick

On Thursday night, the Texans hold the 16th-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
