With the second pick in Mike Mayock’s NFL mock draft, the Tennessee Titans select Marcus Mariota, quarterback, from Oregon. Mayock has Mariota rated as the best player at his position.

2014 Recap

Tennessee began strong with a Week 1 win against the Kansas City Chiefs, and then lost 14 of its last 15 games. The Titans struggled through a trio of underwhelming quarterbacks in Zach Mettenberger, Charlie Whitehurst and Jake Locker. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt could not get much from this lackluster group.

Team needs

The Titans need a quarterback along with a quality receiver and help on the offensive line. Defensively, Tennessee is without a top cornerback and a pass-rusher. Throughout the draft, the Titans will have ample needs to fill.

Last year’s pick

Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida. Mayock didn’t foresee Bortles going third-overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars, leaving Tennessee to take Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan with the 11th pick.

Scheduled pick

On Thursday night, the Titans hold the second-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
