NHL Playoffs 2015, Updated Bracket: Lightning eliminate Red Wings
By Josh Hill
The NHL Playoffs wrapped up the first-round on Wednesday when the Tampa Bay Lighting bounced the Detroit Red Wings in Game 7.
The Tampa Bay Lightning were at one point in time gunning for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. They may not be in the postseason as the No. 1 seed, but they’re still gunning for the top spot in the East as they move on to the second round of the postseason.
Tampa Bay eliminated the Detroit Red Wings in Game 7 on Wednesday night, moving on to the Conference Semifinals and setting up a matchup against the Montreal Canadiens.
Here’s a look at the NHL Playoffs Bracket now that the Tampa Bay Lightning have eliminated the Detroit Red Wings and moved on to the second-round.
The Lightning held off the Red Wings in a tough series, and it’s something that should get them ready for an even harder series against the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs almost let the Ottawa Senators into their series and that should be something that the Lightning play up heading into their series.
Detroit wasn’t an easy series for Tampa Bay, and it was a game and series that came down to the wire. Tampa Bay is getting white hot though and have a series from last year to avenge, as well as a rough series against the Habs during the regular season.
It should be a fascinating series, and the second-round of the NHL playoffs is now set.
