The Denver Broncos took a chance on Shane Ray, trading up to get him with the No. 23 overall pick.

Shane Ray gets to go to Colorado, where he will be able to possess all of the pot that he wants. The Broncos traded up with the Detroit Lions in order to take the Missouri edge rusher, and although they pick up someone who slid down draft boards after his citation for pot possession, they have one of the most talented players in the draft.

The Broncos pick up a perfect compelent to Von Miller. Ray is one of the most explosive athletes in the draft, and he does an excellent job of making the first step to put offensive tackles off balance. He has a large amount of pass rushing moves, and he has the capability of making splash plays. He would fit in perfectly with the Broncos as a 3-4 defensive end, and although he will struggle in run defense when the ball is directed at him, he joins an already fantastic team to help them push for a championship.

Ray doesn’t have the size comparable to a lot of the other great pass rushers in the league, but without his hand in the ground, he will be able to make plays both in the backfield and laterally.

This means that the Cardinals have an opportunity to take an offensive tackle now that the running backs are off of the board.
