With the No. 13 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft the New Orleans Saints drafted Stanford offensive tackle Andrus Peat

The New Orleans Saints had an adventurous offseason that saw them part ways with several fan favorites, including All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham who was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for the No. 31 pick. The Saints were in position to improve themselves mightily with a pair of first round picks this year as they hope it will boost them enough to compete for the NFC South division title after a disappointing year.

When the Saints were on the board they had a few intriguing options at wide receiver they could have used to replace the traded Kenny Stills and some attractive edge rushers in Shane Ray and Randy Gregory to cause havoc in Rob Ryan’s defense. Granted both of those players come with red flags due to their off-the-field issues, but have top-10 ability.

Ultimately, when the Saints were on the clock they went for some help on the offensive line in Stanford left tackle Andrus Peat to protect Drew Brees.

The 6-7, 315 tackle comes from a good program that develops offensive line talent and has good genes considering his father played in the NFL. He has tremendous upside and a wide base with great feet. He shows a nasty streak at times which you love to see from offensive linemen, but he does need to do a better job in staying low and anchoring, because he struggled at times against elite pass rushers like Utah’s Nate Orchard who had the better of him.

However, the Saints get a massive bodyguard for Brees and could look at receiver of pass rusher in the coming rounds.
