The NFL Draft was supposed to feature a slew of trades, but it took until the No. 23 overall pick for the second trade to happen.

The NFL Draft didn’t feature nearly as many trades as we thought we’d see but there was still movement regardless. The first trade saw the San Diego Chargers move up in the draft to the No. 15 overall pick to draft Melvin Gordon. The second trade involved a defensive player, and one who has some red flags attached to him as he comes to town.

The Denver Broncos didn’t care about Shane Ray’s incident earlier this week though, and ended up trading up to get him in the early 20s of the first-round.

Rather than staying put at No. 28 overall, the Broncos saw the way the draft board was sliding and moved up to take Shane Ray out of Missouri.

The irony here, obviously, when it comes to Ray going to Denver. Colorado is one of a handful of states where marijuana is legal and pot is exactly why Ray slipped all the way down to the No. 23 pick in the draft.

That’s not why fans should be interested in this pick happening. The Broncos just got a massive pillar for their defense in the future, as he will be paired with Von Miller in the linebacking corps for the Broncos and that’s going to be dangers for teams in the AFC moving forward.
