DraftKings Pitcher Picks – May 1
Thanks for coming to where Fantasy CPR brings you our expert DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitcher Picks! Our Thursday picks were productive both in the fantasy and real-world as Strasburg ($10200, 21.8 FP/2.14 FP per $1K), Leake ($7200, 25.6 FP/3.56 FP per $1K) and May ($5800, 14.5 FP/2.5 FP per $1K) all won their games and earned numbers that would have made your fantasy team competitive last night. Furthermore, T.J. House (-7.45 FPs) blew up as predicted. Below are my picks for Friday night, May 1st, 2015. Good Luck!
High End ($7700 and up)
Matt Harvey (NYM) home vs. WAS for $12000: The Mets stud right-hander is off to a great start, undefeated at 4-0 with a 3.04 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 31 Ks in 26 2/3 IP. It will be electric tonight in New York, and as crazy as it sounds, Harvey should continue to improve after missing all of last year. Although he’s up against the recently hot Nationals, look for him to cool off the free swinging Washington squad who is 2nd in the majors with 191 strikeouts. Plus, Max Scherzer may be rusty after missing a start due to a thumb injury. Harvey dominated the Nationals in Washington on 4/6, going 7 2/3 IP with 8 Ks and 29.3 DK FPs. A similar performance can be expected tonight in pitcher friendly CitiField.

Adam Kennedy (SD) home vs. COL for $8200: Kennedy (13 wins, 3.21 ERA, 9.3 K/9, 201 IP in 2014) was hit hard by the Dodgers last time out after coming off the DL. Now healthy, he has also made a mechanical adjustment and will definitely benefit from pitching in spacious Petco Park. Look for him to get his season on track today for the Padres, who are around a -155 favorite.

Low End ($7500 and down)
Jose Quintana (CWS) at MIN for $7200: Quintana has alternated good outings with very bad ones so far this season. His high ERA and WHIP can be partly attributed to 3 of his 4 starts facing big-hitting Detroit and Kansas City. However, last time out vs. the Royals he had 17 FPs via 7 IP, 2 ER and 5 Ks. Tonight, the White Sox are favored on the road against Minnesota, (-145), against whom Quintana is 3-2 with a 4.40 ERA and 53 Ks in 57 1/3 IP in 10 career starts. Lastly, the Twins (23rd in runs scored) are prime to come back to earth after plating 12 runs last night.
Long Shot of the Day – Chris Heston (SF) vs. LAA for $5600: This lefty has been solid so far, with 11.5 FPPG with a 2.77 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 21 Ks in 26 IP. His only blemish was an understandably poor start in Coors Field. Heston has only given up 3 runs (2 earned) in 14 2/3 IP at home this season – look for that to continue tonight against an Angels squad (20th in scoring with 4.04 runs a game) who hasn’t found their bats yet. And at this price, it gives you a lot of roster flexibility.
Stay Away: Carlos Carrasco (CLE) at CLE for $7900. Carrasco is coming off a horrid outing vs. Detroit allowing 5 ER in 4 2/3 IP. He is extremely talented and has great peripherals, but he’s also facing the #1 offense in baseball today. Until Carrasco can put together a quality start and the Indians start hitting (25th in majors in runs scored), I would stay away from him.
