Everyone knows about Jameis Winston’s run in with the law after stealing crab legs last year from a local Publix. Thursday, he poked fun at the topic with a picture.

As one of the best football players to come out of the 2015 NFL Draft — the No. 1 overall selection, to be exact — Jameis Winston will have eyes on him at all times, watching his every move. Such has been the case with his recent Instagram post that had people buzzing. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ top pick posed for a picture with a plate full of crab legs on Thursday night and the internet melted.
Shortly after his name was announced at the top pick in this year’s draft, Winston posted the controversial photo to his account.
Today, that photo has been deleted and it seems like his new team had urged him to take it down in order to avoid an even bigger black eye.
Just take a look at the picture and see for yourself how controversial it might be.
While it might seem pretty harmless because Winston has been known to love himself some crab legs, even if they have gotten him into major trouble in the past, it wasn’t the right time nor the right place for a photo like this.
Just minutes after being drafted, the last think you want to see Winston do is poke fun at his already troubling past.
Heck, even Jim Harbaugh urged the young quarterback to bottle up all the crab leg talk and just admit to messing up, never looking back at the topic again. However, Jameis seemed to ditch the advice and take a picture with some now-infamous legs of crab.
His Publix story went viral as soon as the news broke and so did this picture. If you didn’t know what the picture was all about, you would have though he stole once again from Publix as the internet basically exploded after he posted this picture.
For image sake, the Buccaneers better hope to keep their quarterback under control in order to avoid off-field issues or maybe even issues on the field pertaining to his lack of focus.
If Winston wants to avoid the childish stereotype bestowed upon him, he will have to quit doing things like this to get a rise out of people. Sure, he did it to show he has moved past the whole incident, but it was in bad taste.
Winston took a big step forward by deleting the picture on Friday morning.
