With Portland Trailblazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge set to be a free agent, he is expected to have a couple of Texas suitors in the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

Now that Portland Trailblazers are eliminated from the playoffs, they have to do everything they can to keep their star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge.

More from Dallas Mavericks

According to Marc Stein, both the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks are expected to target Aldridge, who is from Texas.

With the Trailblazers getting bounced early from the playoffs yet again, Aldridge has to wonder if he really has a shot at a championship in Portland.

Not only will the Spurs and Mavericks target him, they believe they have a real shot at landing him and making him the heir apparent to their current legendary power forwards in Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki.

"Yet sources insist — at, yes, this early juncture — that San Antonio sits near or at the top of Aldridge’s list … unless the Cleveland Cavaliers were to lose Kevin Love and then somehow manufacture a way to sign-and-trade for him.The Knicks and Lakers, of course, also intend to enter the bidding. And there will surely be others."

Stein’s words certainly sound like Aldridge could have one foot out of the door in Portland.

He would be a huge addition to either San Antonio or Dallas. Dallas, who just got bounced out of the first round, has been one of the best Western Conference franchises for the past couple of decades.

However, it appears their time could be coming to an end with age and lots of questions in regards to the roster. Aldridge would help the remain a playoff team and the team could continue to build around him as the salary cap in the league increases exponentially. He is from Dallas and the fit makes sense.

If Aldridge wants a chance at a title, the Spurs are another great fit for him. Tim Duncan doesn’t have too many years left despite the fact he is currently playing out of his mind for his age. It would certainly be a changing of the guard in San Antonio, but Gregg Popovich has proven he can win with just about any roster.

Aldridge would allow the Spurs to stay atop the Western Conference, and with Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs suddenly have one of the brightest futures in the NBA. Seriously, they’ve been the crown jewel of the west for almost 20 years now. How does 30 sound?

LaMarcus Aldridge is going to have suitors once free agency begins and it looks like the running could already be down to two teams.
