The Tennessee Titans website got exclusive access into the Titans’ offices when the team got in touch with the No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota.

With so much speculation that the Tennessee Titans were fielding trade calls (which general manager Ruston Weber confessed to after the fact) and questions of whether the team would select Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, it is nice to know that the Titans were in fact resolute in picking the young quarterback.

Choosing not to attend the draft, and instead take in one of the most important days of his life at home in Hawaii, it required a long-distance call from Nashville for his new employer to get in touch with him.

The results caught on film were pretty special. This is one reason we love the NFL draft so darn much, moments like this one.

The video can be watched at the Titans’ website, here.

General manager Ruston Weber told Mariota he was the unanimous choice for the pick, even though the team did field calls.

Head coach Ken Whisenhunt referenced having a pretty good run with another player who has the same representation, Rep1 Sports. That player Whisenhunt is referencing is Ben Roethlisberger, whom Whisenhunt shaped and molded with the Pittsburgh Steelers before moving on to take the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.

The Titans will bring Mariota to Nashville Friday and will begin working with him shortly after in the hopes (presumably) that he can start Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
