  1. New York Giants—Pick No. 9: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami

The New York Giants made the first extremely questionable pick of the night, taking Ereck Flowers when Andrus Peat and several good cornerbacks were available.

It’s not that Flowers isn’t good, he could turn out quite alright indeed. But Flowers was not among anyone’s top three offensive tackles—whatever that is worth. More than that, he likely would have fell to a spot where the Giants could have traded back into the first-round if they really liked him that much.

Every team wants to take best player available, but that’s not always an option. The Giants are okay at offensive tackle. And Flowers was not the best player available. There’s simply no way to justify this pick.

It cannot be described. It’s impossible. How is it done?

Can it be done? Can this pick be justified? Words escape me. I can’t do it, I don’t have the power.
