Phillies’ Ben Revere makes unbelievable catch (GIF)

Philadelphia Phillies’ Ben Revere is no stranger to making spectacular catches but his latest catch may be his most impressive.
Ben Revere of the Philadelphia Phillies made an unbelievable catch during yesterday’s game against the Marlins. Revere dove for a ball but could not quite secure the catch.
When he hit the ground the ball popped out of his glove. This would have been a botched catch from most outfielders. But not Revere.
Revere’s quick reactions kicked in as the ball began to roll out of his glove. He flicked his glove hand and popped the ball up into the air. Once the ball was popped up he scooped it back into his glove using his bare hand. It was an amazing display of awareness by Revere to snag his team the out.
Revere basically caught the ball, lost it, then caught it again all while sliding across the field. To have the presence of mind to do that is simply incredibly. Think back to the last time you almost dropped your phone but caught it after a quick heart-attack-inducing bobble. Now imaging that same scenario except now you’re sliding headfirst across the outfield of Marlins Park. Good luck catching that phone.

This is not the first time Revere has made a spectacular play. Two years ago Revere made an incredible catch against Cincinnati. the catch also set up an out at first for the runner who was almost at third when the catch was made.
Revere also made a great diving catch last year against Milwaukee. It was a full extension dive that left Revere struggling to stand afterwards. However, Revere quickly shook it off and continued playing the game.
Ben Revere has proven himself to be a defensive player to watch. He has an electrifying presence on the field and is showing no signs of slowing in his dive first, ask questions later approach to baseball.
