The Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox faced off on Wednesday afternoon in front of an empty Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Saturday Night Live poked fun at the situation.

Anyone who knows anything about sports knows just how crazy it is to see an empty stadium when a professional sporting event is taking place — unless you’re a Miami Marlins fan. However, the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles faced off last week in front of a completely empty Oriole Park at Camden Yards crowd.

The sight was a little ridiculous as the two teams had a little fun with the situation, signing invisible autographs with imaginary fans and taking bows in center field to the absent crowd before the contest.

As the two teams played each other during the Baltimore riots happening on the other side of the park’s fences, the dead silence was almost deafening. The only thing you could hear was players picking each other up and umps making calls. It was almost like the batting practice that happens hours before game time.

The situation was so ridiculous that Saturday Night Live decided to poke fun at it with a spoof video during this week’s show.

Just take a look for yourself, but trust me, it’s hilarious and terrible all at the same time.

Endless puns regarding the terrible situation in Baltimore were both funny and sometimes cringe-worthy, but leave it to Saturday Night Live to push the envelope and open some eyes with controversially humorous skits.

Not a funny scene in Baltimore turned into a funny skit on SNL. Classic.
