Lightning forward Steven Stamkos floored Canadiens goaltender Carey Price as he scored his first goal of the playoffs.
Steven Stamkos is finally on the board!
After scoring no goals in the first round of the playoffs against the Detroit Red Wings, he picked up his first on the road in Game 2 Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens.
His first goal was a beauty too.
Getting away from Canadiens defenders on a breakaway, Stamkos had a wide open look at goalie Carey Price. He didn’t just fire a shot up, he decked his way so hard to the net that Price ended up lost and on his stomach.
Stamkos then knocked the puck into the open net for the score to extend Tampa Bay’s advantage over Montreal.
That’s not just any goaltender he made look silly either.
After overcoming the odds in a grueling series with the Red Wings, the Lightning have jumped all over the Canadiens to begin this series. They took Game 1 and look well on their way to taking Game 2.
The bad news for Montreal and the rest of the NHL is that if Stamkos starts scoring, then the Lightning’s odds of winning games increases anymore.
A monster has awoken north of the border, and his name is Steven Stamkos.
