James Harden reacts to losing MVP
Houston Rockets forward James Harden reacts to losing the MVP award to Stephen Curry.
Stephen Curry was named the NBA’s most valuable player on Monday and James Harden, who came in second, had something to say about it.
Harden, the Rockets guard, spoke to ESPN about losing out to Curry:
"“Obviously, an individual award, the MVP, is amazing. But like I said we got an amazing opportunity in this locker room and I’m not going to let one individual award affect what we got going on in this locker room. We still have a great season to play in and some great games ahead of us.”"
To be fair, he has the right to be disappointed that he did not receive the award.
This season, Harden, who received 25 first-place votes, averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7 assists. He also averaged 44% shooting from the field and 37.5% from three.
Curry’s numbers are similar, but just a little lower – averaging 23.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists. Though Steph did have a higher shooting percentage, making 48.7% from the field and 44.3% from three. That three-point percentage is just outrageous.
Those number are good and, if you’re looking strictly at the numbers, Harden at least has an argument.
Meanwhile, LeBron James, of the Cavaliers, came in third in the voting while Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook came in fourth and New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis came in fifth.
Hey, James, at least you beat out LeBron! That’s something to celebrate.

Don’t feel too bad for James, the race was a close one, but ultimately Curry consistently does things like this.
And this.
Oh, this too.
And also this.
You’re both great, but Curry is more Vine-worthy.
If these two take care of business in their respect series, they could match up in the Western Conference finals. Then these two can duke it out on the court.
Now that’s a match up that we want to see.
