LeBron James called the Clippers point guard on his wife’s phone after Paul scored the game-winner to clinch the series against the Spurs.

In order to FOCUS in the playoffs, LeBron James confiscates his own social media devices and other distractions. He’s doing it this year, and he has done it in years past.

From NESN:

"“I don’t have no phones, no social media, I don’t have anything,” James said following Tuesday’s morning shootaround as the Cavs prepared to host the Boston Celtics in Game 2. “I don’t care about nonsense.”"

In fact if it were up to him, the basketball games would be played in a sound vacuum and all of the players would wear white or black. There will be no outside stimulation for LeBron, not even to sit down with his buds from Imagine Dragons for a refreshing Sprite, just FOCUS.

But then Game Seven of the Clippers-Spurs series happened late Saturday night. An incredibly tight matchup yielded this moment at the end of the game.

Clearly impressed, LeBron wanted to communicate his admiration for his friend’s incredible shot, but short of smoke signals and carrier pigeons, LeBron the Luddite had no way to actually achieve this communication.

-Hey man, you’re where amazing happens.

There is no time to wait for a thank you there. LeBron can’t waste time with gratitude when he NEEDS TO FOCUS.

Unfortunately for the Clippers, they will be without Chris Paul for Game One against the Houston Rockets. Paul suffered a non-contact hamstring injury during the first quarter of that same Game Seven against the Spurs. As evidenced by his game winning shot, he was able to return and perform well, but his timetable for return is still up in the air.

Regardless, LeBron James would still like to see his hero make the NBA Finals so he could praise him awkwardly in person. No cellphones necessary.
