Mondays suck: Mark Jackson says stupid things about Floyd Mayweather
By Lauren Lapka
Everyone hates Mondays, they suck, but so do these three things floating around the sports world.
Mondays suck. This day isn’t the only thing that sucks right now, these three things in sports equally suck.
Mark Jackson Said More Stupid Things
We’ve heard it time and time again, ESPN is either suspending someone or one of their own is sending out an apology because of something insensitive they have said on-air. Well there hasn’t been an apology from commentator Mike Wilbon or analyst Mark Jackson, but both were caught saying some insensitive things while discussing Floyd Mayweather. Obviously Mayweather is most criticized for his history with domestic violence. When Wilbon and Hannah Storm were addressing it, Wilbon called people who are bringing it up are “wild-eyed” and “naive” because the issue isn’t new. He also suggested boxing is different than other sports; that it shouldn’t be confused with athletes who are expected not to be a serial domestic abuser. Wilbon briefly defending Mayweather by saying a lot of boxers are in criminal trouble, much of it domestic violence. Apparently it’s ok if everyone else is doing it.
Former NBA player and coach Mark Jackson is also guilty of aloof comments. He was covering Game 1 between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors when the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao came up. He said people who are “haters” of Mayweather because of his history of domestic violence aren’t qualified to judge him as a boxer. The dialog between him and Mike Breen went a little like this,
"Breen: “Don’t you think a lot of the quote on quote haters is because of the personal stuff, the domestic abuse stuff, that stuff comes into play in peoples opinions.”Jackson: “That’s not how were judging him, were judging him as a boxer.”Breen:”That’s not how you judge him, but that’s how a lot of other people..”Jackson: “Then don’t judge him as a boxer. Then you’re not qualified to judge him as a boxer, that’s all.”"
James Taylor’s Gross Ode To Red Sox
James Taylor, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame artist known for many hits such as “Fire And Rain” has created an absolute terrible song about the Boston Red Sox. He debuted the song during Bostons game Sunday against the Yankees. While discussing the song with the announcers he revealed the song took him ten years to write. That’s rather embarrassing considering one of the lyrics is, “Look at that his bat just broke, gee that’s got to kill his hand.”
Brandon McCarthy’s Penis Tweet
