DraftKings Pitcher Picks – May 5
Welcome back to the website with the best Starting Pitcher picks for DraftKings’ Daily Fantasy Baseball contests. Yesterday, our picks were Clayton Kershaw ($12000, 23.5 FP), Alex Wood ($8400, 5.15 FP), and Travis Wood ($7200, 9.75 FP). These are not the kind of results this column has produced this year but fantasy baseball is a fickle thing. Hopefully, the following picks will get your fantasy team back on the winning track for games played Tuesday night, May 5th, 2015. Good Luck!

Zack Greinke (LAD) at MIL for $9800: Greinke has been dominant in 2015, going 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 22.2 FPPG. The Brewers have won 3 in a row, but were being dominated yesterday by Kershaw with 8 Ks and 5 H/BB in 7+ IP before they rallied late. Bottom line, the Dodgers are a superior team than the Brewers and should win tonight as indicative of Vegas having them a -160 road favorite. Lastly, Greinke returns to Miller Park, were he has enjoyed unprecedented success, with a mind-blowing 15-2 record, 3.21 ERA and 190 Ks in 159 2/3 IP. Take Grienke tonight and you can count on somewhere between 20-30 FPs.

Jeff Samardzija (CWS) home vs. DET for $8700: Samardzija was roughed up by the Os in that historically bizarre fanless game in Baltimore last week. However, the silver lining was he recovered after the first inning to pitch four effective innings. And in his two previous starts he pitched quite well, averaging 21.95 FPPG including a gem (8 IP, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 Ks) against the same Tigers he is facing tonight. There’s a decent chance that the White Sox will get their struggling offense on track as they face Shane Greene, who has given up 15 ER in 8 1/3 IP during his last two starts. Expect Samardzjia to pitch well again against the Tigers in his friendly home confines.
Bartolo Colon (NYM) home vs. BAL for $7500: The hefty righty has cooled off a bit in his last two outings, but Colon has put up impressive numbers in 2015 going 4-1 with a 3.31 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, 25 Ks and only one walk in 32 2/3 IP. Tonight, he will back home in ultra-pitcher friendly CitiField where his Mets are 11-3 this year. They face a Baltimore team that is 6-7 away from Camden Yards and is putting Bud Norris (1-2 12.18 ERA, 2.00 WHIP in 4 starts) on the mound. Plus, the Os strike out once every 3.85 ABs vs. RHP, which is the highest rate in the majors. Look for Colon to get back on track tonight at a very affordable price.
Stay Away: Michael Pineda (NYY) at TOR ($7600): Pineda (3-0, 3.73 ERA) has pitched well this year, but he simply is a different pitcher on the road than at home. Coming into 2015 he was 9-5 with a 2.45 ERA in his career at home but 8-10 with a 3.97 ERA in away games. So far in 2015, he has given up 8 ER in 13 IP in two road starts. Pitching Tuesday in hitter’s paradise Rogers Centre against the slugging Blue Jays (1st in the league with 5.44 rpg) is not a good combination. Do not be seduced by the relative cheap price tag of $7600 – Buyer beware!
