DraftKings Pitcher Picks – May 6
Welcome back to our regular DraftKings column, were we give out expert Starting Pitcher Selections for their Daily Fantasy Baseball contests. We got back on track in a big way on Tuesday night with Greinke ($9800, 32.85 FP), Samardzjia ($8,700, 24.95 FP), and Colon ($7,800, 33.65 FP). If you had two of these guys and any luck with your hitter selections, you would have easily placed in 50/50s last night. Let’s continue the streak in tonight’s evening slate where there are only 12 games to choose from due to three early games. Below are my picks for Wednesday night, May 6th, 2015. Good Luck!

Gerrit Cole (PIT) home vs. CIN for $9500: Cole has been dominant so far, establishing himself as an early 2015 Cy Young candidate, going 4-0 with a 1.76 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 35 Ks in 32 IP. If that’s not enough, the Pirates are around a -150 favorite at home vs. the Reds who are 17th in the league in runs scored and 10th in strikeout rate. For $9500, he could get you 3.0+ FP per $1000. Plus, with a lot of other big name/high-salary pitchers starting tonight, you may not have to share him with many others.
Ubaldo Jimenez (BAL) at NYM for $7,300: The resurgent righty has been stellar this year for the Orioles, going 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA, .079 WHIP, and 22 Ks in 22 2/3 IP over four starts. His decent 20.9 FPPG number is even skewed low because he was ejected on 4/17 in the 4th inning as he was shutting out the Red Sox. His mound opponent today, Jacob DeGrom, has struggled of late going 0-2 with 9 ER in 10 1/13 IP over his last two starts. The Orioles are only a slight underdog (+106) in New York and pitcher friendly CitiField, and Jimenez’ $7300 salary is a steal against a Mets’ offense that has only scored 20 runs in their last eight games.

Stay Away: Carlos Carrasco (CLE) at KC for $8300. This is the second time this week Carrasco has landed in this part of the column, and rightfully so. He has given up 9 ER and 20 H/BBs in his last 10 1/3 IP. As we know, he is extremely talented and has great peripherals, but he’s facing the 3rd best offense (4.75 rpg) in baseball in the 17-9 Kansas City Royals, who are a -125 home favorite. Again, until Carrasco can put together a quality start or two I would stay away from him, especially at this price.
