Retired Olympian pulls daughter’s tooth via javelin toss
Former Olympian decathlete pulls out his his daughter’s loose tooth out with a javelin toss.
Losing your teeth – and subsequently receiving money from the Tooth Fairy – is one of the great joys of being a child. For some children, though, the process of actually removing the tooth is a scary one.
While every parent has their favorite method, a common one is to tie one end of a piece of string around the tooth, tie the other end around a door knob, and then slam the door shut. One father, Bryan Clay, had a different idea. Instead of slamming a door, how about throwing a javelin.
Points for creativity.
Now is probably the time to mention that Clay is a retired Olympian and decathlon gold medalist. Clay, who competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, is a professional, so there is nothing to worry about. Still, it’s a leap of faith by everyone involved.
Thankfully the whole thing is caught on video. We see Clay with his javelin at the ready and his daughter with the string tied around her tooth. After Clay throws the javelin, the camera pans back to the daughter, who smiles at the camera revealing a bloody gum where the tooth once was.
While everything about this video is great, Clay’s daughter is the real star. I mean, this girl is a champion. She seems not at all phased that her incredibly strong father is going to rip her loose tooth out of her mouth with a javelin.
A few concerned parties replied via Twitter to make sure that the tooth wasn’t lost during its javelin flight. Clay was quick to assure people that the tooth was, in fact, recovered.
Let’s hope the Tooth Fairy rewarded her handsomely after that whole endeavor. She earned it.
