Here’s Dante Fowler injuring his knee at first practice (Video)

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. , the third pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, reportedly left practice today with a knee injury.
Dante Fowler was Jacksonville’s No. 1 pick in the NFL drat this year, but he might not be hitting the field for them anytime soon. Fowler suffered a knee injury on Friday, which occurred less than an hour into the first day of rookie minicamp. The injury came during 11-on-11 drills, where Fowler was matched up offensive lineman Watts Danzler
According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com, Fowler went down grabbing his left knee and was down for several minutes before being helped off the field. Fortunately, he seemed to be able to put some weight on his injured leg. Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, meanwhile, is reporting that Fowler was seen walking gingerly with two trainers and ended up leaving on a cart.

As you can see, it doesn’t look good. There isn’t much word on the extent of Fowler’s injury yet, but knee injuries are never good, and the fact that it happened this early in camp is an unfortunate start to Fowler’s rookie year.
Fowler was a highly-touted pass rusher coming out of the University of Florida, registering 60 tackles, 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles his senior season. The Jaguars envisioned him as an ideal fit for the Leo role in Gus Bradley’s defense, while Fowler himself stated that he would love to come to Jacksonville, making the choice an apparent match made in heaven.
Coach Bradley has set that Fowler’s status is uncertain and that the team will know more about his status Friday night. For now, the Jaguars will be holding their breath. A serious injury to Fowler would be a devastating blow to the Jaguars’ season, as well as a major setback to Fowler’s young career.
