After quite the wait, Kris Bryant finally got his first career Major League home run
Kris Bryant hit the first home run of his professional career Saturday night against the Milwaukee Brewers. He hit the 83-mph pitch to left-center and it was easy to see that it would be gone off the bat. Bryant blasted the three-run homer in the third inning to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead.
Bryant attended the University of San Diego where he was awarded the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy. He was selected 2nd overall by the Chicago Cubs in the 2013 MLB Draft.
The Cubs are currently sitting at 2nd place in the National League Central division, with a record of 15-13 so far on the season. The Cubs are trailing the St. Louis Cardinals, who are an impressive 22-7 through the early part of the season.
The Chicago Cubs are hopeful that the players they have invested in, such as Kris Bryant, will continue to boost their record. The Cubs are coming off several disappointing seasons in a row, finishing with a record under .500. The Cubs are over .500 through their first 28 games and Joe Maddon has his fingers crossed that the early success will continue throughout the season.
