The Atlanta Hawks want the Cleveland Cavaliers to get in with them on getting bank shots banned (Joking, of course)

After two consecutive game-winning bank shots in the NBA Playoffs, the Hawks are asking the Cavs to sign an online petition to ban the use of the backboard on game-winning shots.

The Hawks and Cavs certainly must have wished this rule was in place before their last respective games. Derrick Rose and Paul Pierce both put up crazy, last-ditch effort shots that somehow banked in. Rose said in his post-game press conference that he “didn’t call it.” Pierce probably didn’t either…but he admitted that he called “GAME!”

The Hawks have obviously hired a great PR department and are managing to have a joke despite the heartbreaking, last-second loss. However, they will have to get serious if they hope to regain momentum in their series against the Wizards. This was a great chance for Atlanta to go up two games to one in the Verizon Center without John Wall on the court. Sadly for them, the ice cold Paul Pierce did not allow that to happen.

After struggling against the Nets, the Hawks needed to refocus for a series with a tough Wizards team. So far, the Hawks have not looked as offensively efficient as they did for long stretches of the regular season. If Wall comes back before the series ends, they will have to step up their effort to a level they were not showing in tonight’s game.

But for now, as usual with this team, they know how to make a friendly joke about something that doesn’t really go their way.
