Quarterback Tony Romo thinks the Dallas Cowboys star-studded offensive line will extend his career.

The Dallas Cowboys have been uncharacteristially not-themselves lately, focusing on some blue collar players in the draft. They went with offensive lineman high in the draft, selecting Travis Frederick and Zack Martin in recent years.

That has helped the Cowboys build one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, which played a big role in running back DeMarco Murray leading the league in rushing. They’ve even taken steps to beef up that line with the signing of undrafted free agent La’el Collins.

While the impact of the offensive line on the running game has been evident, it is also benefiting quarterback Tony Romo.

“When you have a good offensive line like we do, the thought definitely crosses your mind to ensure you do everything possible to play longer than maybe what you had envisioned,” Romo said Friday, via The Dallas Morning News. “We’ll reassess that in a few years. My wife will tell you, I’m talking a little more long term than I maybe had been.”

Romo’s career seemed like it was at-risk to be cut short after a couple of offseasons with back injuries, now Romo is looking at extending his career.

That is good news for Dallas Cowboys fans as they hope for that elusive Super Bowl win.

Romo was also quick to put the praise for this line where it is deserved, the men who built it through the draft.

“I just think the way Jason and Stephen and Jerry have built this team over the last three or four years has been from the inside out and you’re seeing the benefits of that,” Romo said. “We’re still going. This wasn’t a one-year, two — we’re building this for the next five, six, seven years to sustain.”
