3 Starting Pitcher Sleepers

1. Mat Latos-Miami Marlins: After a horrific start to the season, Latos is starting to round into form.  He was crushed by the Braves in his Marlins debut, but has actually allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his five starts since.  His best outing of the season was in his last start against the Nationals allowing just one run on two hits and five walks in 6.1 innings while striking out six.  He was dropped in many leagues, but he has the potential to be a solid contributor the rest of the way, so give him a look if whoever drafted him abandoned him to the waiver wire.

2. Michael Lorenzen-Cincinnati Reds: Lorenzen has been solid in his first two starts this season for the Reds allowing 11 hits and four runs in a total of 11 innings and compiling a 1-1 record to go with his 3.27 ERA.  Today, he takes on the struggling John Danks (1-2, 6.20 ERA) as the Reds and White Sox wrap up their interleague series.  As long as the weather holds, I think Lorenzen and the Reds have a good chance to get the win today at US Cellular making him worth a look since he is currently owned in less than 5% of ESPN leagues.

3. Chris Young-Kansas City Royals: Young will be making his second start of the season tonight as he is called out of the bullpen to replace the injured Jason Vargas.  In his 17 innings so far this season, he has only allowed two earned runs while striking out 16.  He’ll be in a tough matchup tonight as he faces the Tigers who he also had to deal with in his first start of the year which came nine days ago.  In that outing, he dominated Detroit allowing no hits and three walks in five shutout innings while striking out nine.  He may not dominate to that extent today, but he is a solid, sneaky play as he takes the mound for KC tonight.
