The Detroit Pistons have been rumored to be using Draymond Green’s mother to lure him to Michigan, but she isn’t that hot on him returning home.

It’s Mother’s Day, and it’s a day that all men are reflecting on just hoe special their mothers were and are to who they’ve become today. For Draymond Green, he’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day hundreds of miles away from home, as his Golden State Warriors are battling the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Semifinals.
But that’s nothing new to Green, as he is routinely hundreds of miles away from his mothers, as he had to leave her behind in Michigan when he was drafted a few years ago by the Golden State Warriors. The fact that his mother still lives back in Michigan, combined with the face that the hometown Detroit Pistons have the need and means to sign him, has fueled rumors that Draymond Green could come home this summer.
According to Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal, Draymond Green’s mother doesn’t want him to leave the Warriors to come play closer to her in Michigan.
"“I want him to stay in the place that will be the most productive for his career, and I want what makes him happy,” said Babers-Green, who lives about 70 miles away from Detroit. “The Bay loves Dray, and Dray loves the Bay. I’ve got NBA TV.”"
This is fueled by rumors that the Defensive Player of the Year runner up wants to leave California to return home and play for the Detroit Pistons. There was reportedly mutual interest in such a plan a few months ago, but the Warriors seem to have grown together as a unit more and more since then and the idea of Green leaving is starting to seem less likely.
That being said, he’s not going to play for crumbs in Oakland, and if a bigger free agent deal comes along then Green would be foolish to not take it.
Of course, that’s assuming that the Dubs wouldn’t give Green the contract he wants — which is still inside the realm of possibility.
Draymond Green is one of the fastest rising young big men in the game, and as we’ve seen with the likes of Greg Monroe, Roy Hibbert and Timofey Mozgov, young big men are a hot commodity in the NBA and teams will pay a premium to have them.
