Rob Gronkowski says he has nothing to do with DeflateGate (Video)
By Josh Hill
Rob Gronkowski is one of the faces of the New England Patriots franchise, but he’s not jumping in front of any bullets for Tom Brady over DeflateGate.
DeflateGate is currently dominating headlines and it’s something that has apparently tarnished Tom Brady’s legacy for the time being. We’ll all forget about it in the long run and it’ll be a footnote as opposed to an asterisk on his career stats but for the time being everyone is going to roast the Patriots while they can.
This includes badgering Rob Gronkowski over what he knows and doesn’t know regarding DeflateGate.
Gronkowski appeared on SportsCenter this morning to talk about the possibility of being on the cover of Madden 16, but he was bombarded with questions about DeflateGate.
Gronkowski went on to say, once again, that ‘it is what it is’ in terms of Tom Brady’s suspension and the fallout from it.
The DeflateGate scandal has become a massive stain for the NFL and for Tom Brady but it’s not something that deserves the type of grilling that Gronkowski received. Of course people are altering balls in the NFL, and Tom Brady is just one of many who are doing things to get an edge on the competition.
He has been suspended, the Patriots have been fined and punished but that still isn’t good enough for anyone. Yeah, it’s fun to rag on the Patriots because we’ve all suspected for years that they’re cheaters and they go above and beyond to get an edge on the competition — but there’s a difference between asking questions and loading questions.
Gronkowski may not be the brightest bulb of the bunch, but he knows a loaded question when he hears one and he was having no part of indulging anyone on SportsCenter this morning.
Tom Brady is really the only one who deserves to be questioned like this outside of Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick — and both have stopped short of throwing Tom Brady under the bus the way Gronkowski was forced to this week.
