Tony Romo. 9. player. 123. . QB. Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had an excellent 2014, although next to the Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton, nobody at the top of last year’s Pro Football Focus list of top quarterbacks took less snaps.

That’s not a knock on Romo, as he was dealing with a ton of injuries and missed some time (as did Newton).

This coming year should be an interesting one, as he will be without Demarco Murray, who was really the focal point of the offense in 2014. While there are some good backs in Dallas, many of them are injury prone (Darren McFadden) or unproven. We might see a slight shift to a more pass-focused offense this coming season, and then see it continued in 2016.

Romo is a very good quarterback, despite the narrative that he folds under pressure. More often than not, he doesn’t and the narrative is merely a fixture of a few very prominent blunders. Most quarterbacks have them and Romo has generally been a big time quarterback when he needs to be.

The one hiccup here is Dez Bryant. What is his future with the Cowboys? Dallas has to figure out not only whether to pay him but what market value will be. According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Julio Jones, A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas are all in various contract struggles with Bryant and Thomas franchise tagged while Green and Jones near the end of their rookie deals.

If the Cowboys can figure out what the price point will be on any of them, they’ll try to lock Bryant down. But he may want to try the market—a market which could be highly lucrative for him.

Not having Bryant better mean they have someone else. Otherwise this is going to be a hard ranking to see come true in 2016.
