Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitchers: Studs, Duds, and Sleepers-May 16, 2015
3 Starting Pitcher Sleepers
1. Archie Bradley-Arizona Diamondbacks: Bradley was forced to leave his last start after taking a liner to the face, but he is expected to return today to take on the Phillies. He was excellent before his abbreviated start, and you should definitely look to add him if someone in your league dropped him (58.6% owned in ESPN leagues). Bradley has pitched 20 innings so far this season with a 1.80 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts. His favorable matchup and sky-high potential make him a must-add if available in season-long leagues and a solid sleeper for daily league play as well.
2. Colby Lewis-Texas Rangers: Lewis has to take on Danny Salazar tonight in Arlington, but I still expect a solid game from him even though a win could be tough to come by. Lewis has allowed a total of just two runs over his last three starts in 21 innings. He has improved to 3-2 on the season with a solid 2.40 ERA. The Indians bats are no joke, but he should still be able to give you a solid outing at home making him the top waiver wire pickup in the over 50% of ESPN leagues where he is still unowned.
3. Ubaldo Jimenez-Baltimore Orioles: Starting Jimenez is still a risky form of starting pitcher roulette, but he continues to produce, and with limited options today could be the day to finally buy in (a little anyway). Jimenez has a 2.41 ERA and an impressive .188 BAA (batting average against) although he has still struggled with his control at times. As he takes on the Angels and Matt Shoemaker today, he definitely has upsides and should be able to get a win if he can keep his current roll going.
