Evgeni Malkin’s Pittsburgh Penguins are no longer in the playoffs, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting physical on the ice, elbowing young star Jack Eichel in the head.

It’s been a few weeks since Evgeni Malkin’s Pittsburgh Penguins have been in the playoffs ever since their first-round loss to the New York Rangers, but the star NHL player is still tearing up the ice as he plays with the Russian national team.

The World Championship in Prague is taking place this week and it seems like the Russians are the favorite to win it all because of the strong players on the roster, including Malkin, but they will have to face Canada on Sunday for the title.

Malkin had a solid season for the Penguins in 2014-15, racking up 70 points, 28 goals and 42 assists, while leading the Penguins to a 43-27-12 record and a fourth place finish in the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference.

The nine-year veteran and Russian-born star is competing in the World Championships just as hard as he would in the NHL playoffs — just ask soon-to-be rookie Jack Eichel who was on the wrong side of a Malkin elbow to the head on Saturday.

Malkin is a physical player, but this might just be a little over the edge. He took physical to the next level with this devastating elbow to the noggin, receiving an elbowing minor with just 19 seconds left in the first period.

Hopefully the young future star, Eichel, is feeling alright as that was quite the hit he took.
