The NBA Draft Lottery has come and gone, and we saw the official NBA Draft order set tonight — at least, the draft order for now.
Next: NBA Mock Draft: Timberwolves win No. 1 Pick
Each year, the NBA Draft Lottery either makes or breaks a teams offseason. Well, not really but it’s the first chance that a team gets to be hopeful for the future as someone walks away with the No. 1 pick and someone starts the new season off in a disappointing way.
The Knicks and Lakers were in the top of the draft lottery for the first time in a long time, but neither team had the best odds. Those belonged to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers in the mix as well in terms of bad teams looking to win.
Winning the lottery has changed fortunes before, as the Bulls, Wizards, Pelicans and Cavaliers all won the lottery in the recent past and all of those teams made the postseason this year.
This year, it was the Timberwolves winning the No. 1 pick.
Here’s a look at the official NBA Draft order now that the draft lottery has been set:
1. Timberwolves
2. Lakers
3. 76ers
4. Knicks
5. Magic
6. Kings
7. Nuggets
8. Pistons
9. Hornets
10. Heat
11. Pacers
12. Jazz
13. Suns
14. Thunder
We will have to wait until June to see where things end up, as the No. 1 pick could get moved and there could be other trades that happen that change up the draft order. But for now, this is what we’re dealing with and as two teams play for the NBA Finals tonight, 14 others are hoping to get back to postseason by way of the draft pick they received on Tuesday.
