D’Angelo Russell

While Mudiay has the largest upside to any of the guards in the NBA draft, D’Angelo Russell’s game seems to just flow. His ability to shoot and score aren’t to be overlooked, but neither is his court vision and passing ability. These are skills that come naturally to Russell and are the main reason why most people say he is one of the best players in this year’s draft.

The Knicks could use Russell just as the Bucks use Michael Carter-Williams. They both have extremely large wing spans and frame and can shoot the ball from beyond the arc with precision and efficiency. With Carmelo playing the high/low post now, they are going to need a guy who can knock down kick outs. Russell could be that guy and also give them another scoring threat with his ability to create his own shot.

His one downside is he isn’t as athletic as some expect him to be as a 6’5 shooting guard. He isn’t going to drive down the lane and throw it down over a seven-foot big man. But what he lacks in athleticism he makes up for with skill, size, and hustle. I wouldn’t be too worried about Russell in this years draft, and neither should the Knicks be.
