Los Angeles could receive a Super Bowl in 2020- assuming it has an NFL team by then.

Being the second-largest market in the United States has its perks. For Los Angeles, one perk is that, despite not currently housing an NFL franchise, the city might be getting a Super Bowl.

Los Angeles is being considered as a host for the 2020 Super Bowl, according to the Los Angeles Times. Commissioner Goodell confirmed that L.A. was being considered on Wednesday.

Oh, right, that qualifier of having an organization in your market.

The NFL has a fairly evident formula: Convince X market to build a new stadium for their team, increase the odds of getting a Super Bowl. Dallas was rewarded in 2011, New York City was rewarded in 2014 and San Francisco (or, more accurately, Santa Clara) will be rewarded next year.

Los Angeles, it seems, will follow suit.

But will Los Angeles have a team in the next five years? The NFL seems to think so. News broke earlier this week that the league is confident that Los Angeles will have a team by the 2016 season. So, who is moving?

At the owners meetings Wednesday in San Francisco, attendees will hear updates from owners with stadium proposals in Inglewood and Carson, both in the Greater L.A. area. Those individuals include owners of the Rams, which moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis, the Raiders and the Chargers.

Whichever team ends up moving, they’re sure to have a nice stadium to play in.
