The Blackhawks vs. Ducks series is one that might go a full seven games but it felt like it lasted all seven games in one night.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks played Game 2 of their Conference Finals series against one another on Tuesday night, but no one ended up going him until Wednesday morning. In what ended up being the longest game in Blackhawks history, Chicago and Anaheim played the equivalent of two games as the game went six periods before a winner was decided.

In the end — an end that seemed like it would never arrive — it was the Blackhawks won the game on a Marcus Krueger goal.

The goal ended one of the longest games in NHL history and one of the longest Conference Finals contests every played. For context, the game started at 8pm in Chicago and didn’t end until almost 2am — a span of six hours. That’s like watching half of the Star Wars Saga, or the entire Godfather trilogy.

It was a long game, but it was one that wasn’t short of it’s insane moments.

The biggest moment of the night though was Marcus Kruger’s game-wining goal — which didn’t feature him using his head to get the puck in the goal.

This game-winner came after the first game-winner the Blackhawks thought they had in the second overtime. On that play, Andrew Shaw headed the puck into the net but it turns out you can’t do that.

Everyone, including ace analyst Joe Micheletti, thought that the goal was the coolest thing they had ever seen. As it turns out though, despite it seemingly like a good goal, it was disallowed.

In the end though, the goal that was disallowed ended up being even out by one that was allowed and the Blackhawks head back to Chicago tied with the Ducks at 1-1. This is a series that isn’t going to end anytime soon and we may have seen the first of a handful of exciting games as this series presses on.

Game 3 will be in Chicago on Thursday night.
