Early DraftKings Pitcher Picks For May 21

Welcome back to the best place to get expert Starting Pitcher Selections for DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball contests. If you went with our picks last night you did pretty well as all three were productive to varying degrees: Zimmerman (24.15 FP, $8900, 2.71FP/$1K), Odorizzi (9.9 FP, $8500, 1.16 FP/$1K), and Wada (20.9, $6500, 3.21 FP/$1K). Below are my picks for Thursday afternoon, May 21st, 2015. There are 6 games on the DraftKings early slate of baseball contests starting at 12:10 pm. Good Luck!

Clayton Kershaw (LAD) at SF for $12400: Kershaw (2-2, 4.24 ERA, 1,24 WHIP, and 66 K in 51 IP) appears to be getting into his normal élite pitcher form with a 28.8 FP performance last time out. His season stats are skewed by two bad road starts vs. COL and ARZ at hitter’s parks. Kershaw faces the Giants today in San Fransisco and as always you can count on innings and strikeouts from the lefty. LA is a -125 road favorite today despite facing Madison Bumgarner, which should tell you something. Look for Kershaw to take advantage of his electric stuff, the ballpark and his opponent to put up a big fantasy number this afternoon.

Jacob deGrom (NYM) home vs. STL for $9000: deGrom is having a good year with 4 wins, a 3.21 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 43Ks in 47 2/3 IP. He has been especially effective at home, averaging 23.25 FP in five starts. He takes the mound for the Mets who are -120 favorite at home in pitcher-friendly CitiField against the Cardinals. The Vegas run line is 7, so expect a low scoring game and deGrom to get you anywhere from 20-30 FPs.

  • Archie Bradley (ARI) at MIA for $5100: The promising rookie had been pitching very effectively (2-0 record, 1.45 ERA, 0.96WHIP, and 18.9 FPPG in 3 starts) before a game vs. COL on 4/28 where he was hit with a line drive in the face in the 2nd inning and landed on the 15 day DL. Bradley lasted only 2 IP in PHI in his return on 5/16, giving up 4 ER. However, the rust should be off of him today as Bradley tries to recapture his early season success against the Marlins who have lost 5 straight and have scored only 23 runs in their last 10 ballgames. At pitcher-friendly Marlins Park and for only $5100, Bradley is a great candidate to pair with one of the high-priced starters available.
