. Previous: -2th. New York Mets. 6. team. 3. Matt Harvey did everything he could this last week, throwing 15 innings of shut-out baseball with 18 strike-outs. However, the Mets watched Bartolo Colon and Jonathan Niese combine for 24 hits and 17 earned runs over 16.1 innings (three starts). New York still owns a team ERA of 3.08 (2nd in MLB), but their depth behind Harvey may be hit and miss from here on out.

Washington Nationals. 7. team. 90. Bryce Harper has gone from unerachiever to MVP candidate in 2015, but the Washington turnaround has been deeper that just Harper. Washington is pacing MLB in runs, RBI, average, slugging, and are second in home runs during the month of May. Sure, Harper has 10 of the 25 long balls, but this has been a team explosion to say the least.. . Previous: -1th

8. team. 43. It was a good and bad news week for the Yankees, but the balance may be shifting toward the latter. After learning that Masahiro Tanaka was heading out on a rehab assignment, New York lost Chase Whitley to Tommy John surgery and Jacoby Ellsbury hit the DL on Tuesday with a knee injury. If there was one bat in the Yankee line-up they didn’t want to lose, it was Ellsbury.. . Previous: -3th. New York Yankees

. Previous: +1st. Chicago Cubs. 9. team. 9. For all the Cubs prospects and all they did this winter, perhaps the least appreciated has been the acquistion of Miguel Montero. Montero has contributed a solid .298/.413/.476 slash at the plate, which would place him fifth in MLB if he had enough at-bats to qualify for the batting title. However, the base-runners have been having a field day on him, with Montero only nabbing two of the 15 attempts against him.

2. Torii Hunter came back to Minnesota on a one-year contract, purportedly to finish his career where it all began. Those plans may have changed though with the 39-year-old ranking second on the team in home runs, RBI, and runs scored. It is also evident that his veteran leadership is rubbing off on a Twins team that could be overachieving a bit and sits just three games out of first place.. . Previous: +2nd.
