Fantasy Baseball: Should I Pick Up Josh Hamilton?

Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up Josh Hamilton?
There used to be a day not so long ago that you would not have even considered finding Josh Hamilton on your league’s waiver wire, no matter what size or how competitive of a league you played in. Now the former star who has been riddled with a rough past is sitting on the waiver wire of a few leagues that I am in. So I am now posed with the same question to which I pose in this article.

According to Jeff Wilson in the tweet above Hamilton is healthy enough to head into some rehab games and see how things go. If this is the case and he manages to play decent and with no setbacks I would certainly consider adding Hamilton across multiple formats. He has not played at all this year and that is okay with me as he could bring some cheap power to your lineup.
Hamilton was only able to play in 89 games last year bit did still manage a decent .265 batting average while slugging 10 home runs. I expect that Hamilton will be worth owning across most formats as a nice and cheap source of power. I would go ahead and add him.
Yunel Escobar – Washington Nationals (SS,3B): Ecsobar should probably not be on any waiver wires across any formats right now. He is currently hitting .324 with 24 runs and 14 RBI. He also has two home runs. I would go out and make sure he is not sitting around in any of my leagues right now.
Curtis Granderson – New York Mets (OF): Granderson has been trying to heat up just a little bit as of late. He hit two home runs last week and just received a nice little day of rest. I would most likely be looking to add Granderson in leagues with 12 teams or more and adding him to my watch list if not picking him up in ten team leagues.
Mike Napoli – Boston Red Sox (C,1B): Napoli seems like he is trying to get things going as he hit a pretty nice homer on the 19th against the Rangers. He has a way to go before he really regains his form, but hopefully this is a sign of things to come and I would be looking to add him in 12 team and larger leagues.
Delino DeShields – Texas Rangers (2B,OF): DeSheilds is a player who probably is playing so well he should not be sitting on any waiver wires either, yet that is where I found him in a couple of my leagues. I would add him in most formats if you need a cheap source of steals. He has stolen four bases in his last ten games. He also has produced a solid 16 runs.
