High-Risk Options

Baltimore Orioles. vs Astros. Chris Tillman. 23. player. 11. Tillman’s last start was shortened due to a rain delay, but in three of his previous four starts he had allowed four runs or more. His ERA for the season is over 6.00, and he has nearly as many walks (22) as strikeouts (29).  He can put up good numbers at times and looked dominant last season, but it’s been a struggle lately for Tillman making him a high-risk option tonight.

22. player. 8. Bradley flashed his huge potential when he arrived in the Majors, but a linedrive to the head derailed his promising start.  After a few weeks off, Bradley returned, but he hasn’t been able to return to form allowing eight runs on 14 hits in a total of seven innings. He faces the Cardinals today which is a tough matchup to expect him to excel in until he gets back to his pre-injury form. Bradley still has elite potential, but starting him today is risky.. Arizona Diamondbacks. vs. Cardinals. Archie Bradley

player. 108. The Rockies have gotten a great start, and five pedestrian starts from De La Rosa since he joined them at the end of April.  He has only made it past the fifth inning that one time in a dominant performance in LA.  When he’s on his game, De La Rosa can be a sleeper, but at this point he still hasn’t shown enough form to use him unless you’re totally desperate.. Colorado Rockies. @ Reds. Jorge De La Rosa. 21

Adam Warren. 20. player. 43. The Yankees broke out on Monday hammering the Royals 14-1, and Adam Warren can hope for that kind of run support as he takes the mount tonight.  He has been up and down in his eight games in the New York rotation, but he has managed quality starts in each of his last two games allowing a total of five earned runs in 13.1 innings.  Despite those two decent outings he’s taken the loss in both games to fall to 2-3 with a 4.26 ERA.. New York Yankees. vs. Royals

Matt Garza. 18. player. 76. Garza has started nine games this year and enters tonight’s start against San Francisco 2-6 with a 5.71 ERA.  He has been hit hard in his last two starts allowing a total of 14 runs in 9.2 innings. Even against a questionable Giants lineup, he’s a risky play tonight although he has been better at home than on the road.. Milwaukee Brewers. vs Giants

vs. Marlins. Jeff Locke. 16. player. 4. Locke has pitched at least six innings in three of his last four starts, but he has allowed three runs or more in six straight to see his ERA climb to 5.28. Miami’s offense has struggled lately which should make this a good matchup for Locke, but he hasn’t put together anything inspiring lately, so I’d look elsewhere for streaming options if possible.. Pittsuburgh Pirates

vs Tigers. Jesse Chavez. 15. player. 96. Chavez has actually pitched pretty well with three quality starts in his last four games, but he has had no luck at all leading to an unexciting 1-4 record despite a 2.89 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He’d be a better sleeper option if he wasn’t facing the Tigers, so proceed with caution if you roll with him based on the matchup.. Oakland Athletics
