Seahawks punter Jon Ryan was a competitor on American Ninja Warrior, but couldn’t come out victorious.

Jon Ryan wasn’t at fault for the Seattle Seahawks as they fell just short of winning Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots. The Seahawks punter was watching the curious play-call from the sidelines as Malcolm Butler made himself a legend in Boston. Judging from his most recent appearance, perhaps the sideline is where he belongs.

We might have to ask him which loss stings more: the loss to the Pats or his personal loss as a competitor on American Ninja Warrior.

Ryan appeared on last night’s episode and put forth this attempt:

While I know how I would fare at the competition (somewhere between not well and abysmally), it does feel a bit disappointing that Ryan is a professional athlete in good conditioning and only made it past two obstacles on the course.

Even if that’s only how far Ryan made it before failing, his appearance did inspire two fantastic hashtags. We should be hashtagging “GinjaNinja” and “NinjaPunter” for the rest of Ryan’s life because that is fantastic.

It’s also worth noting that Ryan isn’t defeated by the loss and vowed to be back at the competition again:

Ryan is going to want to work on his ability to run over rotating platforms before the next go around, but that’s a staple at OTAs anyway, right?
