The Rock will get you excited about rugby (Video)
By Kris Whelan
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is everywhere these days and now he’s even lending his famous presence to promote an Australian Rugby game
New South Wales and Queensland have started their annual State of Origin rugby series, a competition between the two states of Australia that demands national attention due to the bragging rights it creates. There isn’t a great deal of need for a lot of hype when promoting the game in Australia due to how significant the series is, but the powers that be decided to get The Rock to narrate a promotional video for it.
I’m not a huge rugby fan by any stretch of the imagination, but even I have to admit that I was getting pretty pumped up listening to The Rock talking up the game and just how important the series is. He also referenced past games and players, none of which I have ever heard of but that didn’t change the fact that I got goosebumps.
The first game of the series is in the bag with Queensland winning by a minuscule margin of 11-10. It’s finely poised for an epic second game, with both teams desperate to get the win and claim bragging rights across the nation. Am I going to watch the second game? The Rock has actually made me consider it!
