3 Streaming Options for Weekend (May 29-31)

Finding the right streaming option on a daily basis is very difficult. The matchup, the field, the skill. It all adds up to making a tough decision. With May and Week 8 coming to a close, here are three pitchers I would use as streaming options to win your matchup. These recommendations are for season-long leagues, not DFS.

Mike Bolsinger, 5/29 @StL

I wrote about Bolsinger being a waiver-wire pickup earlier this week. To prevent from repeating myself, I’ll keep it short. He is 3-0 with three straight quality starts and just one combined earned run. He is the most-added pitcher in ESPN.com leagues, up 43.3 percent. His matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals will be a test. The offense is hitting .257/.321/.396 in the month of May. However, the Cardinals have been hit by the injury bug. Matt Adams tore his quad and Matt Holliday isn’t getting younger. He had eight strikeouts in his previous outing, so double digits is a possibility. If you have another pitcher to stream, make sure he has a better matchup because Bolsinger doesn’t allow baserunners.

Roenis Elias, 5/30 vs. CLE

Elias came on strong for the Seattle Mariners last season and carried it over for 2015. In his last three outings, he allowed one run in each and earned the win. He owns a 2.56 ERA and 1.29 WHIP on the season. He faces the Cleveland Indians on Saturday. The Indians have been one of the best offenses in the league throughout May, ninth in average, first on on-base percentage and fifth on slugging. The downside to starting Elias is that he allows a lot of baserunners, 8.8 H/9 and 2.8 BB/9. In a deeper league, Elias is a nice spot starter.

Tanner Roark, 5/31 @CIN

Roark is a pitcher that could be in the starting rotation for more than half the teams in the league. Yet, the Washington Nationals have had him in the bullpen all season. Roark is getting his chance in the rotation while Doug Fister recovers. In his first start this season, Roark went five innings, giving up one run on three hits and one walk and striking out three. The Cincinnati Reds are not hitting for power this month. They have 22 home runs (21st), 78 RBI (27th) and .386 slugging percentage (19th) in 24 games. Roark should go six innings and get you a quality start in this matchup.
