The Los Angeles Clippers are interested in signing Paul Pierce this summer and finally reuniting him with Doc Rivers.

It has been far too long since Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers have been together on the same bench, but it hasn’t stopped either of them from winning. Both Pierce and Rivers made deep runs to the Conference Semifinals with their teams this year, but the winning has been capped there for both.

Naturally, this is leading many to believe that a reunion is what everyone needs — and it might end up finally happening.

According to Robert Morales of the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the Los Angeles Clippers are interested in signing Paul Pierce this summer.

"The Clippers remain interested in bringing small forward Paul Pierce to Los Angeles, a league source told us today, but that Pierce would first have to opt out of his current contract with the Washington Wizards, which he can do."

This is hardly surprising, as the Clippers have been interested in reuniting Paul Pierce with Doc Rivers as far back as 2013 when both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were rumored to be getting traded to L.A. along with Rivers. Ultimately, it was only Rivers who ended up in Los Angeles but there has been a desire to bring Pierce in for a while now.

Last summer, the Clippers missed out on signing him when Pierce when to Washington. However in the twilight of his career, it appears that Pierce may end up choosing rings over money — with the added bonus of reuniting with Doc Rivers.

If it’s rings over money that Pierce wants, then the Clippers are most definitely a landing spot for Pierce. The Clippers are strapped for cash against a growing salary cap, but even the inflated cap won’t provide much relief. This may prevent pursuits of players like Dwyane Wade and others, but money might not be an issue for Pierce in Los Angeles.

He’ll want to get paid, no doubt, but he wants to win. Reuniting with Doc Rivers is the cherry on top that might finally make this dream Clippers fans have had for the last few years a reality.
