Steve Weatherford, the punter for the New York Giants, was involved in a scary crash on the New Jersey Turnpike Monday morning.

New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford has had quite the captivating few weeks. After the birth of his daughter just a week ago, Weatherford was involved in a scary car accident Monday.

There is good news in the form of not being bad news. Weatherford is going to be okay after totaling his car along the New Jersey Turnpike. He was driving at 3:30 AM when his car skidded onto a slick section of the turnpike, causing him to lose control and crash into the median.

Fortunately, like any good car safety commercial with misleading music and a dramatic narrator, the airbags fully deployed, which allowed Weatherford to extract himself from the wreckage almost totally intact.

From ESPN:

"“Once my entire car got into it, it started to hydroplane,” Weatherford said. “To be honest with you I don’t know how many times I spun around, but after maybe the second third or fourth one I started to see the median coming at me, so I just kinda braced up. I’m incredibly blessed that the airbags deployed — I got a couple cuts, couple burns and a busted lip, but I walked out of the car.”"

Another driver also hit that same stretch of road and crashed into Weatherford’s car, knocking the driver out. Weatherford was able to help get him out of the car in time to be taken to the hospital. According to ESPN, the driver appeared to also be okay.

Following crashing his car and possibly saving somebody’s life, Weatherford immediately posted a soliloquy to Instagram because that is now what you do.

He’s just all smiles there, no trauma whatsoever.

Weatherford, who has been the Giants punter since 2011, was able to participate in OTAs for the team on Monday morning. He reiterated how fortunate he was to be uninjured, which is quite the testament to the officers and emergency responders.

With fortune spinning upward for Weatherford, it won’t be any surprise if the Giants go 19-0. Unless of course there is some sort of cosmic balance that has been disrupted, so watch out Giants fans.
