Solid Starting Options

player. 108. Bettis has turned things around in a big way in his last two starts allowing just two runs on eight hits in 16.1 innings while striking out 14 and walking just two. He has won both those starts and is 2-0 on the season with a 2.96 ERA.  He’s in a rough matchup against the Dodgers today, but he’s still worth a look based on his last two starts.. Colorado Rockies. vs Dodgers. Chad Bettis. 10

vs Cubs. Dan Haren. 9. player. 82. Hren has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts lowering his ERA to 3.03 and picking up a win in his last start in New York against the Mets. He’s been especially good at home  (2-0, 1.45 ERA in five starts) and is a solid option for tonight even though he’ll have to duel Jon Lester as he takes on the Cubs.. Miami Marlins

4. Liriano had a horrible outing in the middle of May against his former team, but he has bounced back exceptionally allowing just one run in his two starts since then striking out 23 in just 12 innings and lowering his opponents batting average to just .189 on the season.. Pittsburgh Pirates. @ Giants. Francisco Liriano. 8. player

vs Brewers. John Lackey. 7. player. 32. Lackey doesn’t pile up strikeouts like the elite options, but he has been exceptional in day games going 2-0 with a 0.87 ERA in his three daytime starts.  He also has good splits at home (3-1, 1.30 ERA) and against Milwaukee this year after homering them scoreless for seven innings back on April 16.. St. Louis Cardinals

6. player. 127. Shields stayed unbeaten earning a no-decision in his last start which came against the Pirates.  He allowed two runs in six inning for his fourth straight quality start while lowering his ERA to go with 3.69. He takes the mound at Petco Park tonight in a good matchup, and I think he has a good shot to improve to 7-0 by defeating the Mets.. San Diego Padres. vs Mets. James Shields
