Fantasy Football: Justin Forsett Set To Be A PPR Monster?

Justin Forsett Set To Be A PPR Monster?
Justin Forsett is coming off of his best ever career as what turned out to be the de facto feature back for the Baltimore Ravens. He is coming off an incredible season finishing as the eighth best fantasy RB for standard leagues. He was also the eighth best RB for PPR leagues. This year though the Ravens have a new offensive coordinator in Marc Trestman. Trestman has been known being very good at getting tons of passes to his running backs. Forsett spent most of his career as a third-down back and pass catching specialist and should take to Trestman’s offense like a fish to water.

Most recently Matt Forte has been a PPR monster under Trestman’s direction. Forte caught 102 passes last year and if Forsett can manage to catch just 30 more passes and get to 75 while matching his other stats that could move him into being a top five fantasy back. I am not quite ready to move Forsett into the top-five on my draft board just yet, but I think he is certainly in an offense where it is possible. Jamison Hensley an ESPN.com sports writer has recently said that Forsett’s 44 pass catches from 2014 could double for the 2015 season.
Currently I have Forsett as my #13 overall fantasy RB, but I am strongly considering revising that and looking to make him a top 10 back. I do think that most likely we can expect to see RB1 type of numbers from Forsett. Trestman has a great offensive mind and will put Forsett and the entire Ravens offense in a place to be successful.
Forsett averaged a pretty impressive 5.38 yards per carry last year on 235 carries. He found the end zone eight times and all of those things are set to increase as long as the Ravens continue to keep Forsett in the feature back role. If his carries increase and his pass catching increases then all signs point to Forsett becoming even better than he was last year.

In keeper and dynasty leagues I could see going after Forsett in a deal if the price was right. I would not want to break the bank in going after him, but I do think that Forsett will be a great value pick for this season. With a player like Forsett it is hard to determine his long-term value to say that trading for him is a great idea in dynasty leagues, but he will certainly hold plenty of value for the 2015 season.
