The 2015 French Open women’s final will feature Lucie Safarova vs. Serena Williams.

The French Open women’s final will feature one player making her first ever Grand Slam singles final appearance and and another gunning for her 20th career major title. On Saturday from Roland Garros, No.13 Lucie Safarova will attempt to fell No. 1-ranked Serena Williams.

Though she’ll be a heavy underdog on Saturday, Safarova is playing some of the best tennis of her career right now. She has yet to drop a set at Roland Garros this tournament. In her last two matches she upended No. 7 Anna Ivanovic in the semifinals 7-5, 7-5, and defending French Open champion, the world’s No. 2 player, Maria Sharapova 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Now she must topple the world’s best player and winner of the past two Grand Slam events.

It’s been a difficult tournament for Williams, who has been challenged throughout these two weeks. Four of her five matches have gone three sets; in each of those contests Serena dropped the opening set. During her semifinal against No. 23 Timea Bacsinszky, Williams overcame the flu and extended her Grand Slam winning streak to 20 matches. After grinding out a win in the second set, she simply overpowered Bacsinszky in the third to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

"“I don’t think I’ve ever been this sick,” Williams said after the match, saying she “I didn’t expect to win that. I can’t believe I won.”"

Williams and Safarova have played eight times prior, with Williams holding an 8-0 advantage. Should she win, this would be Serena’s third French Open title, and first since 2013. Though Safarova has no Grand Slam singles titles, she did win the Australian Open doubles title this year (her first ever Grand Slam), and is also still in play for the French Open doubles championship.

The French Open women’s final will take place at 9:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 6, and will be broadcast live on NBC.
